Enbridge is proposing a number of expansion projects to help address current and future increases in refinery demand as supplies from Western Canada’s vast oil sands increase. These projects will help provide a North American solution to energy reliability and security of crude petroleum supply.

Enbridge has filed applications with various state and federal regulatory agencies for the major permits necessary to build these projects. Some of these agencies solicit public comment during their review process, so notices of such public meetings have been posted under each project. To learn about the permitting status of each project and view project documents, click on one of the projects below. See the map on this page to locate the projects in your area.

The Alberta Clipper Project is a 36-inch outer diameter crude oil pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta, Canada through North Dakota and Minnesota to Superior, Wis.

The Southern Lights Diluent Project is a 20-inch outer diameter liquid petroleum pipeline from Superior, Wis., to Clearbrook, Minn.

The Southern Lights-LSr Project is a 20-inch outer diameter crude oil pipeline from Cromer, Manitoba, Canada through Pembina County, N.D., to Clearbrook, Minn.

Public hearings on the Alberta Clipper and LSr Projects were held in Kittson, Marshall, Pennington and Red Lake Counties on Nov. 27-28, 2007. Public hearings in Polk and Clearwater Counties were held on January 17, 2008. Public hearings on the Alberta Clipper and Southern Lights Diluent projects south of Clearbrook, Minn., will be held in the Spring of 2008. Information on the dates, times and locations of those meetings will be posted when they become available.

If you cannot attend a public meeting and/or wish to submit a written comment to federal or state agencies, please follow the instructions in the various regulatory notices that are posted under the project in your local area.
